TheCaribbeantakes‘centerstage’astheregionwasselectedastheGuestofHonorattheBeijingCollegeStudentFilmFestival.Thisthree-dayeventisfreeandopentothepublicandbeginsonApril24thandendsonthe26thwithatotalofeightfilmsbeingscreened.
加勒比地区获得北京大学生电影节的嘉宾待遇，成为“亮点“。开幕于4月24日-闭幕于4月26日的为期3天的活动免费向公众共播放8部影片。
FourcountriesfromtheCaribbeanCaucusofEmbassiesinBeijing,namely,theRepublicofTrinidadTobago;Barbados,theCommonwealthoftheBahamasandJamaica,partneredwiththeSchoolofArtsandCommunicationofBeijingNormalUniversitytouniquelyfeatureCaribbeanfilms.Thispartnershipbuildsuponthefirmfoundationlaidin,whentheCaribbeanCaucusco-hostedtheInauguralCaribbeanFilmFestivalinBeijing.
加勒比国家驻华使馆核心组涵盖的四个国家，即特立尼达和多巴哥共和国、巴巴多斯、巴哈马国及牙买加与北京师范大学文化与传播研究所合作，推出独特的加勒比地区电影。这是建立在年加勒比国家驻华使馆核心组在京共同举办首届加勒比地区电影节稳固基础之上的合作。

“北京加勒比电影节给予中国观众从未有过的在银幕上体验加勒比地区文化的独特机会。通过此电影节，我们希望在中国观众眼中重新定义加勒比地区，带给他们真实的加勒比经历。加勒比地区既是大片制作的完美地点又是加勒比地区生气勃勃的电影产业制作有趣本土电影的完美场所。我们非常高兴地将这些影片带到北京，给予公众观赏的乐趣。”特立尼达和多巴哥共和国驻华大使馆临时代办吴爱识女士说。她是代表加勒比国家驻华使馆核心组的系列活动协调员。
ThefilmschosenhighlightaspectsofthetrueCaribbeanreality,byshowcasingitsart,history,musicandliterature.Thesefilmsalsoalludetosomeofthepoignantmattersthatstillremaininourpost-colonialsocieties;issuesinvolving,immigration,race,identityandtheconstantstruggleforabetterlife.
这次放映的影片通过展示加勒比地区的艺术、历史、音乐及文学，突出了加勒比地区的真实面貌。这些电影也提及了一些仍旧存在于后殖民社会的尖锐问题：移民、种族、身份（认同）及为更好生活的不断挣扎。
“FindingSamuelLowe:FromHarlemtoChina”,conceptualizedandproducedbya,FormerNBCUniversalExecutive,PaulaWilliams,willbeshownattheOpeningCeremonyheldonApril24th.ThefilmdocumentsaspectsofWilliams’childhoodandthatofherbrothers,allofwhomwereborninJamaicabutmigratedtoHarlem,USAwiththeirChinese-Jamaicanmother,NellVeraLowe.ThedocumentaryfeaturesWilliams’plighttoreunitewithhermother’sremainingfamilyinChina.ItwasproducedbyJeanetteKong.
寻找塞缪尔劳:从哈勒姆到中国（FindingSamuelLowe:FromHarlemtoChina）”，由一名美国国家广播环球公司前任高管，宝拉威廉姆斯（PaulaWilliams）构思并制作，本作品将于4月24日在开幕式上展播。这部影片的灵感来源于威廉姆斯与她兄弟们的童年，他们都在牙买加出生并跟随他们的牙买加华裔母亲奈尔薇拉劳（NellVeraLowe）移居至美国的哈勒姆。描写了威廉姆斯一家在重重困难中与母亲在中国的亲戚们团聚。纪录片由吉奈特康（JeanetteKong）制作出品。

电影节第二天将以两部来自巴哈马的电影开场，其中第一部由卡瑞姆莫蒂默（KareemMortimer）导演，片名为“旅程（Passage）”。这部令人惊心动魄的影片讲述了一些海地人通过巴哈马偷渡到美国并在此旅途中遭遇的种种磨难。第二部电影的总制作人K泰勒约翰斯通（K.TylerJohnstone）捕捉了一名海地园丁的日常生活元素并拍摄了影片“我父亲的土地（MyFather’sLand）”。影片描绘了一部令人熟悉的加勒比生活画卷，并触及到移民、文化和身份认同的问题。它同时也详细讲述了所有相关人员为追求更高的生活质量而离开自己家乡的利与弊。在这个故事当中，他最终选择的目的地是巴哈马。
