剧情简介
这是在欧美盛演不衰的一部舞台名剧。
简最近患上了精神崩溃的疾病，出院以后，她的丈夫考古学家格雷格在乡村租了一幢旧别墅，希望她能够在这里得以休息和康复。但是他们刚刚到达这里就发生了一连串令人不安的事情。一个略微有些痴呆症的老农夫乔治给他们讲述了一个可怕的谋杀案，而且告诉他们，这里还经常有鬼魂在夜间出没。这一切点燃了简的想象，发现自己在夜里经常被一种奇怪的声响和有关复仇的幽灵的幻觉所折磨。她会不会再次精神崩溃？是不是有人蓄意使她发疯？当她竭力和这个幽灵进行抗争来保护自己的时候，在一个令人难以想象的充满了悬念的深夜，发生了一系列突如其来、令人悚然的事件。
这是一出不断地让观众紧张得透不过气来的惊悚剧，然而它又具有时不时地惹得观众忍俊不禁的许多喜剧效果，以此来缓解紧张和增加可看性。往往是这一刻观众的笑声未停，马上就会被接踵而至的恐怖情节而屏住呼吸。
